Stephen Ross partnered with the Talley and Kynsi wineries to plant this vineyard just four miles from the ocean. The vines, rounding 20 years old, produced a lively and bright pinot with tart cherry notes, a hint of leather to lend savor. Its flavors run deeper, while tense acidity and a lean texture keeps the wine on point for duck prosciutto.

The 2021 Pinot Noir (Edna Valley) is a gorgeous, juicy Pinot to drink now and over the next handful of years. Succulent cherry/plum fruit, sweet spice, tobacco and cedar are front and center in this mid-weight, inviting Pinot. The 2021 is pure allure.

The 2021 Pinot Noir (San Luis Obispo Coast) is a delicate, elegant wine. Sweet floral and savory notes open first, lifted by bright acids that confer freshness. Dark red/blue fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and dried flowers are impeccably laced together. The 2021 is wonderfully inviting and also a terrific example of the saline style of wines from the SLO Coast.

2020 Stephen Ross Pinot Noir Stone Corral Vineyard, Edna Valley, CA: Retail $68. Dark in color and aromas with some earth and fruit. Dark on the palate as well but this works. Dark cherry and a touch of funky earthiness, very nice. Excellent. 91 Points.
