Bold aromas of rhubarb, ripe cherry, light sage and a hint of muddy loam show on the nose of this single-vineyard expression. The savory, salty, soy-like touch to the palate opens into purple flower and dark-berry fruit flavors, with peppercorn spicing up the lightly gamy finish. —M.K.

This is the wine of summertime. Though tightly woven on the nose, it unleashes aromas of frozen tropical fruit, lemon rind and mineral hints of damp ash. The acidity flashes across the palate, where balanced apple and pear flavors are easy to slurp. Editor’s Choice. —M.K.

Vibrant aromas of guava peel and cut grass meet with a piquant kick of jalapaño zest on the nose of this single-vineyard bottling. The palate is tense in structure, presenting lime zest and green apple flavors against a wet-sidewalk minerality. — M.K.

The 2022 Pinot Noir La Encantada Vineyard is a boisterous, explosive wine that captures the more exuberant side of the Sta. Rita Hills. A burst of dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint, and pomegranate washes across the palate. There’s quite a bit of substance and poise here. This is such a gorgeous and complete Pinot.

Responsible Bottle (594g; 20.9oz). Darker in both color and aromas with darker fruit and some clove. A bit heavy on the palate but lightens up with a healthy dose of acidity on the mid-palate. Lengthy finish. A bigger style, but very well done.

A touch of cinnamon and cardamom combine with lovely red fruit on the nose. Subtle, initially but with lovely balance and weight. A gorgeous wine.
